Road safety concerns rise due to driving posture fines and poor infrastructure
Traffic safety concerns are being highlighted through different lenses in Europe and South America. In one instance, a driver faced a 200-euro fine for driving with an arm outside the vehicle window. While the General Traffic Regulations do not explicitly prohibit resting an elbow on a window, authorities can issue sanctions if the posture limits movement, reduces vehicle control, or creates a specific risk to road safety.
In Ciudad Guayana, road infrastructure issues are contributing to driving risks. Major avenues in San Félix and Puerto Ordaz, including Cisneros, José Gumilla, Libertador, and Centurión, suffer from potholes, uneven surfaces, deep manholes, and a lack of street lighting. Experts and transporters note that these deteriorating conditions often act as triggers for traffic accidents, complicating driver maneuvers and increasing danger for motorists.
