Road safety education initiatives launched for students in Spain and Chile
Educational programs focused on road safety and accident prevention have been implemented for students in El Ejido, Spain, and Hijuelas, Chile.
In El Ejido, students at IES Santo Domingo participated in the “Conduce tu futuro” initiative. The program uses virtual reality, firefighter interventions, and medical simulations to demonstrate the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The activity included testimonies from individuals with spinal cord injuries to highlight the long-term consequences of accidents.
In Hijuelas, Chile, the VíasChile organization hosted a “Parque Vial Escolar” for over 200 students from eight local schools. The program utilizes a 200-square-meter miniature city equipped with streets, signs, and public buildings. Children take on roles as pedestrians, drivers, and passengers to learn traffic rules and mobility best practices in a practical environment.
