Polish towns roll out road, tram and water infrastructure upgrades

Local authorities across Poland have begun or are completing a series of transport and water‑supply projects. In Gniezno a new pedestrian and bicycle path along Gdańska Street will start soon, with an estimated cost of about 320 thousand zł. Near Warsaw’s Chopin Airport, the Żwirki and Wigury streets are being modernised; work started on 29 July with lane reductions and a tunnel closure from 4–6 August. County roads 2936P in Graby and 2160P in Kąpiel were rebuilt through a joint contribution of 352 500 zł from Powiat Gnieźnieński and 352 499 zł/159 000 zł from Gmina Czerniejewo respectively. The S7 highway repair was postponed because of heavy rain, with temporary traffic organization set for 29 July and the first stage of a three‑kilometre reconstruction commencing on 30 July. In Bydgoszcz the Las Gdański tram loop is being modernised with EU funding and is slated for completion before the end of the year. Pleszew’s new water‑pumping station, equipped with UV disinfection, is nearing final testing and will soon supply the town and surrounding villages. A 2‑km pedestrian‑bicycle path along road 704 near the A2 motorway in the Łódź region is in its final finishing stage, funded at 4.7 million zł. Finally, works on Warsaw’s Siekierka Bridge have reduced traffic to a single lane, with completion expected by the end of August.
