Police in Poland and Czech Republic crack down on traffic violations
Law enforcement agencies in Poland and the Czech Republic are reporting a surge in various traffic-related offenses, including speeding, driving under the influence, and unlicensed driving. In Poland, recent operations have targeted high-speed violations, with drivers caught traveling significantly over limits, and alcohol-related incidents involving both motorists and cyclists. Additionally, the Ministry of Infrastructure is conducting the ‘Bezpieczni 60+’ campaign to educate senior citizens on road safety.
In the Czech Republic, authorities intercepted an 18-year-old driver traveling at more than double the speed limit in a residential area, resulting in the immediate seizure of his license. Other reported incidents include a man attempting to steal a vehicle during a test drive and a series of car thefts involving an international connection to Lithuania.
Broader European efforts, such as the Roadpol ‘Focus on the Road’ initiative, are also underway to combat driver distraction, particularly the use of mobile phones while driving.
