Robert Carradine family sues UCLA hospital for wrongful death

The family of actor Robert Carradine has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the University of California Regents and UCLA Medical Center, alleging negligence at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital.

According to the legal complaint, the 71-year-old actor, known for his roles in ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ and ‘Lizzie McGuire,’ checked himself into the facility in January due to suicidal thoughts. The lawsuit claims that staff failed to follow safety protocols, specifically by allowing Carradine to keep his belt, which is listed as contraband in the hospital’s policy to prevent self-harm. The suit also alleges that staff left him in a room with a rolling bedside table that should have been removed.

Following the incident, Carradine suffered an anoxic brain injury and spent five weeks in intensive care before passing away on February 23. The lawsuit alleges that the psychiatric care team was reckless, committed elder abuse and neglect, and falsified care records. The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages for wrongful death and medical expenses.
