Robert Pattinson stars in A24 thriller Primetime about Chris Hansen

The A24 psychological thriller ‘Primetime’, directed by Lance Oppenheim, is set to explore the rise and controversy of the Dateline NBC series ‘To Catch a Predator’. Starring Robert Pattinson as journalist Chris Hansen, the film dramatizes the 2006 era of the show, focusing on the tension between investigative journalism and media sensationalism.

Based on the Esquire article by Luke Dittrich, the narrative examines the ethical boundaries of sting operations used to catch suspected child predators. The film has received critical acclaim, maintaining a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

Director Lance Oppenheim noted that Pattinson, who was initially intended only as a producer, was convinced to take the lead role after a late-night meeting involving the screenplay and unconventional refreshments. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in late September 2026, with specific dates including September 25 in India and October 15 in Italy.
