Robinho Jr. scores twice in Genoa U-20 debut
Robinho Jr., the 18-year-old striker on loan from Santos, scored two goals in his first start for Genoa’s Primavera (U-20) squad. His performance led Genoa to a 3-1 victory over Atalanta in the Italian Under-20 Championship.
The loan agreement includes an option for Genoa to purchase 90% of the player's economic rights for 8 million euros at the end of the term. If exercised, Santos would receive the buyout amount plus potential performance-based bonuses totaling up to 24 million reais. Santos will also retain 10% of the player's economic rights.
Robinho Jr. is currently in the process of obtaining Italian citizenship, a move that could potentially lead to interest from the Italian national team. The move to Europe follows a period where the player struggled to secure consistent playing time with the Santos senior squad.
