Roblox to enhance child safety in Philippines via National ID integration

Roblox has committed to enhancing child protection measures in the Philippines following discussions with government officials. The gaming platform will integrate the Philippine National Identification System into its user verification process to improve account security.

Key safety updates include the implementation of Artificial Intelligence for age verification and stricter messaging safeguards. Under the new rules, minors will be restricted to communicating only within their own age groups. Users who fail age verification will have their chat functions disabled and will be limited to the platform’s kids’ catalog.

To ensure better coordination with local authorities, Roblox plans to establish a physical office in the Philippines by October. The company will also designate a liaison officer to work directly with agencies such as the National Bureau of Investigation. During the discussions, Meta also expressed commitment to strengthening parental controls and collaborating more closely with law enforcement to protect young users.
