Roblox to undergo external safety audit following Australian regulatory action
Roblox has signed a court-enforceable undertaking with Australia’s eSafety Commissioner following failures to prevent adults from contacting children on the platform. The agreement requires the gaming company to implement specific child protection measures within three months, including making accounts private by default for minors and enhancing parental controls.
Regulatory testing revealed that despite previous commitments made in 2025, adults were still able to send connection requests to children without parental consent. Additionally, investigators found that children and adults could interact in community forums without age-based restrictions.
As part of the new agreement, Roblox must undergo an independent external audit to assess its safety protocols and age-assurance technologies. Failure to comply with these terms could result in legal action through the Australian Federal Court.
