Roccasecca Mayors Unite Against Reopening of Cerreto Landfill
On 2 July, mayors from Roccasecca and neighboring municipalities gathered in the Roccasecca town hall to coordinate a joint response to any proposal to reopen the Cerreto landfill. The meeting, convened by the Roccasecca administration, aimed to produce a unified strategy that would protect the local territory and involve the Province of Frosinone if necessary.
The officials reaffirmed their firm opposition to any landfill re‑activation, citing the province’s successful waste‑management model that has achieved a “zero waste” target for 2025 through recycling, transformation and the avoidance of landfill use. They stressed the need to preserve this virtuous cycle and to defend the results already attained by the province.
The coordinated stance seeks to influence regional waste‑policy discussions and to ensure that any future decisions respect the established recycling infrastructure and the environmental safeguards already in place.
