Rock al Parque 2026 faces criticism over overcrowding and safety
The 30th edition of the Rock al Parque festival, held from October 10 to 12, 2026, at Bogotá’s Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park, drew record crowds exceeding 500,000 total attendees. While the event was celebrated for its cultural impact and high-quality musical lineup, it faced significant criticism regarding logistics and safety.
Councilman Jairo Avellaneda raised alarms over extreme overcrowding in concert areas, the collapse of evacuation routes, and insufficient security and mobility measures. He stated that the city narrowly avoided a tragedy due to a lack of foresight and logistical capacity by the Mayor's Office.
Despite these concerns, some attendees highlighted the festival's value in providing free access to international and national artists, noting the positive cultural contribution of the event to the city's citizens.
