Ska music events and Rock al Parque 2026 in Bogotá

Overview

The Bogotá music scene continues to highlight various ska music events and the 30th anniversary of the Rock al Parque festival. In September, the Ska Para Todos Fest 2026 announced the ‘Pre Ska Para Todos Fest’ competition for September 25 at Boro Room, featuring six independent groups competing for a slot at the main festival on November 21.

As Rock al Parque 2026 commenced from October 10 to 12 at Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park, the festival featured over 60 groups, including international acts such as Apocalyptica, Stratovarius, and Ghetto Kumbé. El Punto Ska performed at the Escenario Bio on October 11 as part of their ‘Contratempo Tour 2026’. The festival’s 30th anniversary saw record-breaking attendance, with over 191,000 people on the first day and more than 200,000 on the second. The final day, October 12, featured a lineup including Ministry, Rata Blanca, Editors, and Los Bunkers.

Following the conclusion of the event, which drew a total of over 500,000 attendees, the festival faced scrutiny regarding logistics. Councilman Jairo Avellaneda raised alarms over extreme overcrowding, the collapse of evacuation routes, and insufficient security and mobility measures, stating the city ‘narrowly avoided a tragedy due to a lack of foresight and logistical capacity by the Mayor's Office’. Despite these criticisms, many attendees praised the festival for providing free access to high-quality national and international artists.

The anniversary also included the ‘El Gran Humedal’ exhibition and the controversial unveiling of ‘La Rockera’, a bronze sculpture by Rafael Melo. While officials argue the monument honors women in music, critics have questioned its design, noting the figure appears to lack a mouth.
