Rock in Rio 2026 features K-pop stars and weather intervention

The Rock in Rio 2026 festival saw significant performances from K-pop artists and electronic musician Alok. Notably, the Friday night performances occurred without rain, despite widespread weather issues across Brazil. Osmar Tunikito Santos, a spokesperson for the Fundação Cacique Cobra Coral, stated that the foundation acted following an emergency request from a private entity that included a confidentiality clause. He clarified that the request did not come from festival creator Roberto Medina or the Rio de Janeiro city government.

K-pop presence was a major highlight of the event. Stray Kids performed for an estimated crowd of 100,000 people, which organizers identified as the largest K-pop audience in the festival's history. Other notable performances included Hwasa, who performed a set including hits like ‘Maria’ and ‘TWIT’, and the group NEXZ, who made their Brazilian debut.
