Rock in Rio 2026 sees high attendance amid worker transport complaints
The fourth day of the Rock in Rio 2026 festival saw high attendance and significant musical performances, including sets by Vanessa da Mata, Luiza Sonza, and Roupa Nova. Despite cold weather and a brief reprieve from rain, the Cidade do Rock reached full capacity for the evening.
However, festival workers have reported significant difficulties regarding their commute home. Employees have complained of being forced to walk over 2 kilometers after 12-hour shifts due to access restrictions at the Centro Olímpico terminal. Workers allege that instead of being allowed to use regular BRT services for the standard R$ 5 fare, they are being directed to use the ‘BRT Expresso Rock in Rio’ service, which costs R$ 29.
City Councilor Thais Ferreira has filed urgent requests with the municipal Secretary of Transport and the president of Mobi-Rio to address these grievances, which include concerns over safety and exhaustion among the festival staff.
