Rockfall blocks Mexico's Federal Highway 200 near El Tuito; rain alerts warn drivers on Parral‑Chihuahua road

On Saturday a rockfall, earth and a tree fell onto Federal Highway 200 at kilometre 195 between the communities of Juntas and Los Veranos near Barranca Honda on the road to El Tuito. The debris partially blocked the south‑north lane. Civil‑Protection authorities warned "Protección Civil recomienda circular con precaución" and deployed heavy machinery to clear the material. No injuries or vehicle damage were reported, and traffic is expected to return to normal within a few hours.

The National Guard issued a road alert for the short Parral‑Chihuahua highway near El Velduque after a storm deposited stones and mud on the pavement. The Guard announced "La Guardia Nacional emitió una alerta vial" and advised drivers to avoid night travel and to exercise extreme caution if the route must be used. Guard personnel will monitor the road through the night. No accidents or injuries have been reported so far.
