Rockwell Automation integrates Plex QMS with FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI

Rockwell Automation has announced an API-enabled integration between its Plex Quality Management System (QMS) and FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI. This integration connects AI-powered visual inspection directly into QMS workflows to enhance defect detection, traceability, and product serialization.

The technology allows manufacturers to record inspection results within the Plex system, providing an accurate history of inspections and identifying anomalies. This move is part of a broader strategy to expand artificial intelligence and machine learning across Rockwell’s offerings, including cloud-based manufacturing execution systems, edge AI, and digital twins.

According to a report by the company, 42% of manufacturing processes are expected to become AI-supported within the next year. Rockwell aims to use predictive intelligence to transition manufacturers from scripted automation toward adaptable autonomy, where systems can learn and collaborate across software, hardware, and human workers.
