Rodeio celebrates Saint Francis of Assisi with massive crochet tree

The municipality of Rodeio, located in the Itajaí Valley, held a special program to honor the 800th anniversary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi. The event featured religious ceremonies, cultural presentations, and local craftsmanship.

A major highlight of the celebration was the unveiling of a 14-meter-tall crochet tree, described as the largest of its kind in Brazil. The structure includes various crochet animal figures, symbolizing the saint's connection to nature and all forms of life.

In addition to the monument, the festivities included a Holy Mass and special lighting at the Matriz Church in support of the Pink October campaign. The commemorations serve to reinforce the historical and religious identity of the community and the enduring legacy of Saint Francis as a symbol of peace and environmental protection.
