Rodrigo Bacellar and others face charges for obstructing police operation

Supreme Federal Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes has voted to accept a criminal complaint from the Prosecutor General's Office (PGR), turning several individuals into defendants in a case involving the leak of confidential information and the obstruction of justice.

The investigation centers on the disruption of ‘Operação Zargun’, a police action launched in September 2025 to dismantle a Comando Vermelho criminal organization involved in arms and drug trafficking. The PGR alleges that federal judge Macário Ramos Júdice Neto leaked sensitive information regarding the operation to Rodrigo Bacellar, the former president of the Rio de Janeiro Legislative Assembly (Alerj).

Other defendants include former state deputy Thiego Raimundo dos Santos Silva, known as ‘TH Joias’, who is accused of being tipped off about the police action, allowing him to remove items from his residence before agents arrived. Also named in the complaint are Jéssica de Oliveira Lima, wife of TH Joias, and parliamentary advisor Thárcio Nascimento Salgado, who is accused of providing personal assistance to the former deputy during the operation.

The case is currently being processed in the virtual plenary of the Court's First Chamber.
