Rodrigo Pacheco assumes position as TCU minister

Rodrigo Pacheco, the former President of the Senate, officially assumed his position as a minister of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) on Wednesday. He fills the vacancy left by Bruno Dantas, who resigned to enter the private sector. The appointment was approved by the National Congress and formalized by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Pacheco, a 49-year-old lawyer, emphasized the importance of institutional dialogue to strengthen the state and ensure the effective delivery of public policies. The ceremony in Brasília was attended by high-ranking officials, including Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and several Supreme Federal Court (STF) ministers.

Following Pacheco's transition to the TCU, Renzo Braz has taken office as a senator representing Minas Gerais. Braz, who served as the first alternate on Pacheco's 2018 ticket, will complete the remainder of the term ending in February 2027. Braz stated his commitment to regional development and political balance in his inaugural speech.
