Rodrigo Paz and Fernando Cerimedo linked to controversial audio regarding state of exception

Vice President Edmand Lara has presented an audio recording that allegedly captures a conversation between President Rodrigo Paz and political advisor Fernando Cerimedo regarding the implementation of a state of exception. According to Lara, the recording suggests Cerimedo played a more active role in government decision-making than previously acknowledged, specifically discussing potential interventions in the Cochabamba Tropics and framing the state of exception as a “show” or “novel” to suit public demand.

Lara announced he will submit the material to the Public Ministry to undergo forensic analysis to determine if the voices are authentic or if the recording was manipulated using artificial intelligence. He characterized the potential contents of the audio as a “very grave” matter if proven true.

Separate reports from photographer Manuel Seoane confirm that Cerimedo was present at the Casa Grande del Pueblo during the preparation for a virtual interview between President Paz and Bloomberg Television on May 23. Seoane noted that Cerimedo arrived with the President and remained during the initial setup before departing, allowing the interview to proceed with the President and a translator.
