Rodrigo Zalazar included in Uruguay squad despite Sporting injury
Rodrigo Zalazar has been named in Diego Forlán’s 42-man preliminary squad for Uruguay’s upcoming FIFA international window. Despite a muscle injury sustained during Sporting CP’s 3-1 victory against SC Braga, the midfielder is expected to participate in preparations for a high-profile friendly against Argentina scheduled for November 13.
Zalazar’s inclusion follows a performance where he contributed a goal and an assist before being substituted due to physical fatigue. He is joined in the preliminary list by Maxi Araújo and Arouca goalkeeper Ignacio de Arruabarrena.
At the club level, Zalazar remains unavailable for Sporting CP’s upcoming match against Académico de Viseu. He is currently recovering from a left thigh muscle injury that caused him to miss recent Champions League fixtures against Lens and LASK Linz. Other notable absences for Sporting include Zeno Debast and Nuno Santos.
