Rodrigo Zalazar injury and availability

Overview

Sporting CP midfielder Rodrigo Zalazar sustained a left thigh muscle injury during a 3-1 victory over SC Braga. Following the incident, Sporting coach Rui Borges expressed skepticism regarding Zalazar’s availability for a Champions League match against Lens, stating, “I believe that no matter how minimal the discomfort, he won't be able to play against Lens.”

Zalazar subsequently missed Champions League fixtures against both Lens and LASK Linz. Despite these club-level absences, he was included in Diego Forlán’s 42-man preliminary squad for Uruguay’s upcoming international window, with expectations that he will participate in preparations for a friendly against Argentina.
