Romagna reports rise in workplace accidents and occupational diseases

Data from the CISL Romagna Observatory, based on INAIL sources, shows a significant increase in workplace accidents and occupational diseases in the Romagna region during the first half of 2026. The report indicates over 10,400 reported workplace injuries and more than 1,800 occupational diseases, averaging 57 accidents and 10 new professional illnesses every day.

The situation is particularly critical in Ravenna, where fatal accidents doubled from three to six, and occupational diseases rose by 23.1%. Rimini recorded the highest percentage increases in the region, with reported injuries up 13% and occupational diseases up 18.2%. In Forlì-Cesena, while fatal accidents decreased significantly, both reported injuries and occupational diseases saw upward trends.

Francesco Marinelli, General Secretary of CISL Romagna, has called for a fundamental shift in how workplace safety is addressed, urging regional authorities, health services (AUSL), INAIL, and employers to strengthen territorial cooperation. He emphasized that safety should not be treated as a secondary industrial policy issue and called for increased inspections, more resources for controls, and greater investment in prevention and training.
