Roman Polko says Poland losing hybrid war with Russia
Former GROM commander General Roman Polko warned that Poland is effectively losing the ongoing hybrid war with Russia. He said the country is providing the “fuel and pretext” for Russian aggression and highlighted past incidents such as a Russian missile near Bydgoszcz and attacks on Polish railway infrastructure. Polko called for urgent reforms, stating that current defence legislation was drafted for peacetime and does not match today’s threats. He urged faster modernization of the armed forces, better public education on information warfare, and closer cooperation with Ukraine, noting that reaching full readiness could take five to ten years. He emphasized that “we have no time, no peace, we have a hybrid war,” and warned that Russian disinformation aims to sow division between Poles and Ukrainians.
