Roman Reigns to Defend World Heavyweight Title on Raw in Mexico City

World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns will put his title on the line during the September 14 episode of WWE Raw, broadcast live from Arena Ciudad de México. This marks the first Raw show from Mexico City in more than fifteen years. The challenger will be decided by a historic inter‑promotional tournament featuring wrestlers from WWE’s Raw and SmackDown brands and Mexico’s Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. AAA General Manager and Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio announced the tournament on WWE’s social channels, saying the winner will earn a match against Reigns in Mexico City. The tournament kicks off on the next Monday’s Raw episode and will run over the coming weeks. While no participants have been officially named, wrestling analyst Bryan Alvarez has highlighted El Grande Americano as the current front‑runner. WWE purchased AAA in August 2025, integrating the Mexican promotion into its roster. The Mexico City week also includes SmackDown on September 11, AAA’s TripleManía 34 on September 13, and WWE live events in Guadalajara (Sept 9) and Monterrey (Sept 10). Speculation continues about a possible Reigns appearance at a later AAA event, but the September 14 title defense is confirmed.
