Roman Reigns and 946 faction championship saga

Overview

Following Roman Reigns’ successful title defense against LA Knight on October 10, the landscape of the World Heavyweight Championship has been shaped by a tournament involving the Lucha Brothers. On the August 31 episode of WWE Raw, Penta defeated his brother Rey Fenix in a tournament final to become the number one contender. The match was highly acclaimed, with Tommy Dreamer calling it the “best match of 2026.”

Ahead of their scheduled September 14 title match in Mexico City, Reigns issued a warning via social media, stating he intended to “make an example of Penta” to address disrespect within the locker room. Reigns ultimately retained the title in Mexico City, marking his 150th day as champion. However, the victory was followed by an attack from LA Knight, setting up a championship match at the Money in the Bank event in New Orleans on October 10.

Tensions escalated as the 946 faction, led by Royce Keys, intensified their feud with The Bloodline. The group, which includes Lucien Price, Bronco Nima, and recently added Carmelo Hayes, has targeted members of The Bloodline, including the abduction of Solo Sikoa.

By October 29, the conflict involving 946 continued as Royce Keys teased a potential showdown with Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship, with reports suggesting a match could occur at the 2027 Royal Rumble. Meanwhile, Reigns has faced character criticism, with Kit Wilson labeling him a “walking case of toxic masculinity.”
