Romania advances A13 Sibiu‑Făgăraș highway construction across all four sections
Work on the 68‑km A13 Sibiu–Făgăraș motorway is progressing on all four lots. Lot 1 (Boița‑Avrig, 14.2 km) has reached 15.3% physical completion, employing 591 workers and 212 machines. Lot 2 (Avrig‑Arpașu de Jos, 19.92 km) is 38.94% complete with 283 workers and 213 machines. Lot 3 (Arpașu de Jos‑Sâmbăta de Sus, 17.61 km) shows 41% progress, using 510 workers and 166 machines. Lot 4 (Sâmbăta de Sus‑Făgăraș, 16.26 km) is at 25.8% completion, with 297 workers and 241 machines.
The contract, valued at 6.4 billion lei (VAT‑free) and financed by the 2021‑2027 Transport Programme, is being executed by Turkish construction firm Makyol. The project includes additional works such as a junction with A1 and DN7, a link road to DN1, and several bridges, including an 820‑m technical‑complexity bridge. Completion is scheduled for 2028, marking a major addition to Romania’s road network.
