Romania advances major road and railway modernization projects

In Focșani, work on Ștefan cel Mare Street is being extended to fully rehabilitate the water‑sewer network and modernise the road, funded by the National Investment Programme "Anghel Saligny". The municipality warned of traffic restrictions and noted that emergency repairs by the local water operator have delayed completion.

Meanwhile, the Brașov‑Sighișoara railway line is undergoing a large upgrade. A reserve of 588 million lei has been added, bringing the contract value to about 3.75 billion lei. The project includes constructing two new tunnels and other technical works, aiming to cut travel time from over four hours to under one and a half hours. Completion is expected by February 2028.
