Romania advances PNRR-funded housing upgrades and community health centre projects

In the Romanian city of Buzău, the energy‑retrofit of ten apartment blocks funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) is nearing completion, with work on windows and insulation progressing rapidly. The mayor announced that, because technical assessments classified another thirty blocks as seismic‑risk class II and tender delays occurred, the city will forfeit nearly €80 million of PNRR funding for those buildings.

Meanwhile, the commune of Bucoșnița has finished a new integrated community centre, also built under the PNRR scheme, at a cost of about 1.25 million lei. The facility includes eight medical rooms and is set to host a weekly family‑doctor consultation, with plans to attract additional specialists such as a dentist. The centre will also provide school counselling and home‑visit services for vulnerable residents.
