Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issues travel alerts for Italy, France and Greece

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) warned citizens traveling to Italy about a nationwide air‑transport strike scheduled for 21 July 2026, which could cause significant flight delays or cancellations. Travelers were urged to check airline and airport information in advance and to contact Romanian consular services in Rome, Milan, Bologna, Turin, Trieste, Bari and Catania if needed.

MAE also issued a travel advisory for southeastern France, announcing a red fire‑danger code for Bouches‑du‑Rhone and an orange code for Var, Gard, Vaucluse and Alpes‑de‑Haute‑Provence. Romanian visitors were advised to avoid affected areas, follow local authority instructions and monitor official updates online.

A similar alert was released for Greece, citing a high risk of vegetation fires in Attica, central regions (Boeotia, Fthiotida) and the Peloponnese (Argolida, Corinth) due to extreme temperatures. Romanian travelers were told to exercise caution, obey local fire‑prevention measures and use emergency numbers (199 in Greece, 112/18 locally). Consular assistance is available through the Romanian embassy in Athens and the consulate in Thessaloniki.
