Romania allocates 100 million lei for DN 7A road modernization near Lake Vidra
Romania has approved an investment of roughly 100 million lei to upgrade the DN 7A road segment that runs along the shore of Lake Vidra, at the junction of five counties in the Lotru Mountains. The contract, signed in 2024, was awarded to a consortium led by construction firm Maristar Com and covers slope consolidation and protection works between kilometre markers 63+200 and 86+601. The upgrade is part of the broader Transalpina (DN 67C) network, improving access to the Parâng and Lotru mountain regions, popular with tourists and hikers. The modernised road will bypass the lake, link the settlements of Obârșia Lotrului, Petrila and Petroșani, and support the area’s hydro‑energy infrastructure and ski facilities.
