Romania issues yellow warning for thunderstorms, hail and heavy rain across multiple regions

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued a yellow warning for atmospheric instability covering much of Romania from 12 July 12:00 – 13 July 02:00. The alert applies to Dobrogea, Muntenia, Moldavia, Oltenia, Transylvania, Banat and parts of the Carpathians. Meteorologists expect torrential rain (15‑25 l/m², locally over 30‑40 l/m²), thunderstorms, hail of 1‑3 cm, and wind gusts of 50‑70 km/h, with isolated squalls and possible hailstorms. Temperatures will remain high, up to 31 °C, before falling later in the week. Authorities advise people to avoid travel near trees, power lines and construction sites, to secure outdoor objects, and to follow official updates. The Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) also released a yellow flood warning for ten river basins, including those in Dobrogea, due to the forecasted intense precipitation.
