A US Congressional delegation, led by House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, visited Romania to discuss regional security and the strategic partnership between the two nations. Key discussions took place at the Mihail Kogălniceanu Air Base, a critical hub for US and NATO presence in the Black Sea region. Romanian officials, including President Nicușor Dan and Defense Minister Radu Miruță, emphasized Romania's commitment to increasing its defense responsibilities and acting as a reliable security provider on NATO's Eastern Flank.

Defense Minister Radu Miruță addressed concerns regarding US military presence, stating there are no indications of troop withdrawals. He noted that approximately 400 additional US personnel were recently deployed following a CSAT decision. Miruță also stated that there is currently no intelligence suggesting Russia intends to attack a NATO member state, describing the conflict in Ukraine as reaching a stalemate.

Economic and industrial cooperation remains a priority. Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare and other officials discussed attracting more American capital and expanding production capacities in Romania. The SAFE program has already been credited with reviving five previously inactive manufacturing facilities. Additionally, the Romanian Navy is integrating the NSM anti-ship missile system into the corvette August Român to enhance maritime capabilities.
