Romania approves new funding guides for green transport and transition

Romania has introduced new guidelines and funding rules for green transition and social programs through various ministerial orders.

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure approved the final applicant guide for a state aid scheme aimed at purchasing ‘green’ trucks. Under this scheme, which follows EU Regulation 651/2014, a maximum of 18 million euros can be granted per enterprise. The total budget allocated for this initiative is approximately 299 million euros, funded via the Modernization Fund. Beneficiaries can acquire up to 10 vehicles through competitive bidding processes to reduce CO2 emissions through new technologies.

Additionally, the Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE) has updated several European-funded program guides. These updates cover green mobility and non-polluting transport, specifically targeting investments in the counties of Gorj, Hunedoara, Prahova, and Mureș to mitigate socioeconomic impacts of the climate transition. Other updates include regulations for the energy renovation of multi-family residential buildings, social assistance guidelines for persons with disabilities, and a competitive call for educators working with children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
