Romanian counties approve €100 million of health, transport and green projects

County and municipal authorities in Romania approved a series of multi‑million‑euro investments in July 2026. The Olt County Council endorsed funding for the expansion of a mental‑health centre and a new addiction‑prevention facility in Slatina. Prahova County officials moved to secure up to €10.5 million from the EU Just Transition Fund for modernising the Ploiești Industrial Park at Bărcănești. Brașov Municipality signed a contract to acquire ten electric articulated buses, financed by €41.8 million of non‑repayable EU funds, to extend public‑transport lines 28 and 2B. The Sibiu city council listed numerous local projects, ranging from property transfers to twinning with an Italian town. Odorheiu Secuiesc will transform 3.2 ha of the Târnava Mare riverbank into a recreational zone with a €5.1 million investment. Sibiu’s “Sub Arini” park received over €3.3 million in EU cohesion funds for redesign. Gorj County approved a €12 million extension of the Târgu Jiu County Hospital’s mental‑health centre. Buzău County’s environmental minister delayed signing documents for the Mud Volcanoes tourism project. Maramureș County completed an €83 million overpass at the entrance to Baia Mare, improving traffic flow. Most projects are funded through EU programmes such as the Regional Development Fund, the Just Transition Fund and the European Regional Development Fund, reflecting a nationwide push for health, transport and green‑space upgrades.
