In late July 2026 Romania began rolling out smart lighting in historic city centres and sensor‑controlled lighting for factories, reporting up to 85 % energy savings at sites such as the Kendrion plant. The Bucharest City Council examined proposals for new public parks, while Buzău County announced EU‑funded industrial parks costing roughly €9 million each. Prahova County moved to secure up to €10.5 million from the EU Just Transition Fund to modernise the Ploiești Industrial Park at Bărcănești. Brașov signed a €41.8 million EU‑funded contract for ten electric articulated buses to extend public‑transport lines 28 and 2B. Gorj County approved a €12 million extension of the Târgu Jiu County Hospital mental‑health centre. Maramureș County completed an €83 million overpass at Baia Mare’s entrance, improving traffic flow.
