Romania autumn crops develop normally despite regional droughts
According to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), autumn crop development in Romania is proceeding normally across most of the country due to favorable air and soil temperatures. However, significant soil drought is affecting various agricultural regions.
While water reserves remain satisfactory in Muntenia, much of Moldova, Transylvania, and Oltenia, moderate to extreme soil drought is reported in Maramureș, Crișana, and Banat. Other affected areas include parts of Dobrogea, Oltenia, Moldova, and Transylvania.
Vegetative rhythms for autumn crops are expected to be slightly slower in central and northern depression zones. Current forecasts indicate that autumn barley and wheat are undergoing germination and emergence, while rapeseed is in the germination and early leaf growth stages. Sugar beet harvesting and technological maturation are also ongoing.
