Romania boosts animal welfare with wild kitten rescue and free cat sterilizations

A woman in Neamț, Romania, rescued an abandoned kitten that veterinary analysis identified as a wild species, Felis silvestris, only two months old. The kitten will be taken to a rehabilitation centre in Vrancea County, cared for until it is fully independent, and then released back into its natural forest habitat.

The Bucharest Authority for Animal Protection (ASPA) announced a campaign offering 1,500 free sterilizations for cats, both owned and stray, at several partner veterinary clinics. Appointments can be made Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 16:00, with locations including Happy Taz Vet, One Vet, Vet4Life, and mobile clinics. The initiative aims to control the stray cat population and improve animal welfare across the capital.
