Romania changes driving‑license suspension test locations

Effective 1 July 2026, drivers in Romania whose licences have been suspended and who must pass a road‑rules knowledge test will no longer need to attend the county police road service. The test can be taken at any Public Community Service for Driving Licences and Vehicle Registration (SPCRPCIV) throughout the country, as stipulated by amendments to Emergency Ordinance 195/2002 and Government Ordinance 7/2026.

In Olt County, testing will be held at the SPCRPCIV office in Slatina (Bulevardul A. I. Cuza nr. 153) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 08:30 to 15:30. The Olt police advise citizens to check the schedule and conditions in advance.

In Mureș County, the test will be offered at the SPCRPCIV office in Târgu Mureș (Călărașilor nr. 26‑28) on Tuesdays from 09:00 to 15:00, without the need for prior appointment. Prefecture officials stress that applicants must present proof of licence suspension and an identity document. Both counties urge interested drivers to consult official sources for the exact requirements.
