Brăila–Galați Express bridge over Siret reaches 97% completion

Romanian contractor UMB installed another segment of the bridge deck over the Siret River for the Brăila–Galați Express (DEx6). The operation, lasting three hours, used a 700‑ton crane and also completed the installation of bearings for phase 6 while removing provisional foundations that had supported earlier work.

The physical progress of the entire project now exceeds 97%, leaving the Siret bridge as the sole remaining element to finish. The 10.76‑km high‑speed road, valued at 449.42 million lei and financed through the Transport Programme 2021‑2027, is scheduled to open to traffic by the end of 2026. Director‑General of the National Company for Road Infrastructure (CNAIR), Cristian Pistol, announced the update on his Facebook page on 1 August 2026, highlighting the expected boost to the economies of the historic regions of Moldova, Muntenia and, by extension, Dobrogea.
