Moldova and Romania implement new youth and education initiatives
In Moldova, five youth centers in Ungheni, Taraclia, Edineț, Călărași, and Grătiești have been selected to pilot a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) program. The three-year initiative has a total budget of approximately 500,000 euros, funded by the German Government through the KfW German Development Bank. During the first year, roughly 200,000 euros will be allocated for equipment and materials, alongside training and mentorship for youth workers.
In Romania, legislative proposals are being considered to modify state child allowances for those aged 3 to 18. The project suggests a state allowance of 100 lei, supplemented by a presence scholarship of at least 250 lei per month for students meeting specific attendance and academic criteria.
Additionally, the National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection (ANPIS) has clarified that individuals over the age of 18 may continue to receive state child allowances if they are enrolled in high school or vocational training. For youth with disabilities, this eligibility extends up to the age of 26, provided they are pursuing legally recognized pre-university education.
