Romania launches Rabla Auto 2026 scheme with 300 million‑lei budget

The Romanian Ministry of Environment announced that the Rabla Auto 2026 programme for private individuals will open on 20 July 2026 at 10:00 and remain available until 31 December 2026 or until the 300 million‑lei budget is exhausted. The scheme keeps the eligibility criteria used in the 2025 session, allowing subsidies for electric, plug‑in hybrid, conventional hybrid, and LPG/GNC‑powered cars, while diesel models are excluded. Eco‑vouchers range from 18 500 lei for a fully electric or hydrogen‑fuel car, 15 000 lei for a plug‑in hybrid or electric motorcycle, 12 000 lei for a hybrid vehicle, and 10 000 lei for a conventional or LPG/GNC vehicle. The programme also allocates 165 million lei for thermal‑engine and hybrid cars, 120 million lei for electric and hydrogen models, and 15 million lei for motorcycles. A proposed criterion that only vehicles manufactured or assembled in the EU be eligible was postponed to the next session to avoid a three‑month delay. Minister Diana Buzoianu emphasized the need for a timely launch without a new emergency ordinance, noting the increased budget of 100 million lei compared with the previous year.
