Romania depletes electric‑car subsidy budget within ten days

The Environment Fund Administration (AFM) reported that the portion of the Rabla Auto 2026 program earmarked for electric vehicles was fully allocated after just ten days of registration. A total of 6,724 applications, worth over 120 million lei, consumed the entire budget for the electric‑car component. The rapid uptake reflects strong demand for low‑emission vehicles and the programme’s role in modernising Romania’s vehicle fleet.

Registrations for thermal and hybrid cars continue, with 10,611 applications valued at roughly 120.7 million lei and an available budget of about 44 million lei for that segment. Since its launch, the Rabla Auto scheme has received 18,628 applications across electric, hybrid/thermal, and motorcycle categories. AFM indicated that additional funds for electric cars might become available later if some beneficiaries relinquish their allocations or if a budget amendment is approved.
