Romania deploys F-16 jets following aerial alerts near Ukraine border

The Romanian Ministry of National Defence deployed two F-16 fighter jets from the Borcea Air Base on Friday morning to monitor aerial targets detected near the Ukrainian border. The targets were identified by radar approximately 16 kilometers north of Vilkove, Ukraine, at around 4:15 a.m.

Residents in the northern part of Tulcea County received a Ro-Alert warning at 4:36 a.m. regarding the potential fall of objects from the airspace. The air alert was officially lifted at 6:30 a.m. Authorities confirmed that no aerial targets penetrated Romanian national airspace.

This incident follows a similar alert issued in Tulcea the previous day, which involved the deployment of two F-18 aircraft and a helicopter. These heightened monitoring activities occur amid intensified Russian aerial attacks on Ukrainian territories, including cities such as Dnipro, Odesa, and Kyiv.
