Romania Education Minister warns of widening rural-urban divide

Romanian Education Minister Sorin Costreie has warned of a growing gap between rural and urban areas in Romania. Speaking at the sixth Forum of Romanian Youth from Around the World at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, Costreie noted that while some parts of the country enjoy living standards comparable to those abroad, others are being left behind, facing issues such as inadequate sanitation and food insecurity among students.

Costreie emphasized the urgent need to narrow this developmental divide. He also addressed the issue of school violence, stating his goal to transform schools into safe environments. The minister, who has 30 years of teaching experience including a decade spent abroad, urged the diaspora to maintain confidence in the country's future.
