Romania emergency services battle multiple vegetation fires
Emergency services in Romania are battling multiple vegetation fires across different regions. In Brașov, firefighters responded to twelve separate fires, including a significant blaze at the entrance to Dumbrăvița. This specific fire has affected approximately 10 hectares, with a risk of spreading to an additional 10–15 hectares. Crews are working to protect nearby sheepfolds and a high-voltage power line, while attempting to prevent the flames from reaching the forest.
In the Domogled – Valea Cernei National Park and the Topleț area, recent rainfall has reduced the risk of fire expansion, but isolated hotspots remain. Over 89 personnel, 22 technical vehicles, and two Black Hawk helicopters have been deployed to manage the situation. Efforts are concentrated in the Crucea Albă and Cabana Mușuroaia sectors, where teams are using aerial support to locate and extinguish hidden fires in difficult, mountainous terrain.
Authorities have issued warnings regarding the dangers of burning dry vegetation during drought conditions. Legal penalties for illegal burning can reach 15,000 lei for individuals and up to 100,000 lei for legal entities.
