Romania expands childcare infrastructure in Petroșani and Cluj-Napoca
New childcare facilities are being established in several Romanian cities to address the growing demand for early childhood education and support young families.
In Petroșani, a recently inaugurated creche is now accepting enrollments for children starting from the age of one. Mayor Tiberiu Iacob Ridzi stated that priority will be given to residents of Petroșani, though spaces may be available for children from other localities within the Jiu Valley. The facility aims to provide a modern and safe environment for development and socialization.
In Cluj-Napoca, a new €4 million unit is opening in the Borhanci neighborhood as part of a larger educational hub. This development comes amid significant demand in the municipality; Ana-Maria Nechita, director of the Cluj-Napoca Creche for Early Education, noted that the city has faced high numbers of rejected applications in recent years. The new project includes 110 creche places and is part of an effort to support young families and improve local infrastructure.
