Childcare infrastructure expansion in Romania
Overview
Romania is expanding childcare and early education infrastructure in several cities to support young families.
In Petroșani, a new creche has been inaugurated and is accepting enrollments for children aged one and older. Mayor Tiberiu Iacob Ridzi indicated that while priority is given to Petroșani residents, spaces may be available to those from other localities within the Jiu Valley.
In Cluj-Napoca, a new €4 million unit is opening in the Borhanci neighborhood. This project, which includes 110 creche places, aims to address high numbers of rejected applications in the municipality. Ana-Maria Nechita, director of the Cluj-Napoca Creche for Early Education, noted the development is part of an effort to improve local infrastructure and meet significant demand.
