Dacia and OMV Petrom advance renewable energy projects in Romania

Major industrial players in Romania are advancing renewable energy and infrastructure projects. Dacia is investing 58.3 million lei in an 8.5 MW photovoltaic plant at its Mioveni factory. This project, supported by European Modernization Fund grants, aims to cover approximately 8% of the plant's energy needs and reduce annual CO2 emissions by about 5,565 tons.

OMV Petrom is also expanding its green energy footprint. The company has contracted for a battery energy storage system (BESS) at its Ișalnița solar park, featuring a 20 MW installed power and 40 MWh capacity. Additionally, OMV Petrom has invested approximately 115 million euros to modernize the electrical infrastructure at the Petrobrazi refinery. This modernization includes high-voltage lines and new substations to support future green hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production.
