Dacia and OMV Petrom announce major renewable energy investments in Romania

Dacia is investing 58.3 million lei into a new photovoltaic power plant at its Mioveni factory to increase energy independence and sustainability. The project, which includes 10 million lei in non-reimbursable European funds from the Modernization Fund, will have an installed capacity of 8.5 MW. It is expected to produce approximately 9,094 MWh of renewable electricity annually, covering about 8% of the plant's energy needs and reducing CO2 emissions by an estimated 5,565 tons per year.

Separately, OMV Petrom has entered into an EPC contract with Simtel Team to install a battery energy storage system (BESS) at its Ișalnița solar park in Dolj county. The battery system will have an installed power of 20 MW and a storage capacity of 40 MWh. This installation aims to improve grid stability and facilitate the integration of renewable energy by storing electricity during high production periods for use during peak demand.
