Romania records 11,970 public service pension recipients in May 2026

The National House of Public Pensions (CNPP) reported that 11,970 people received public service pensions in May 2026, up by 13 from the previous month. Of these, 7,922 were funded through the State Social Insurance Budget (BASS). The largest group were judges and prosecutors, numbering 5,850, with an average pension of 25,586 lei (7,575 lei from BASS and 22,461 lei from the state budget. Diplomats and consular staff accounted for 780 recipients, averaging 7,007 lei; parliamentary staff numbered 861 with an average of 6,274 lei. Civil aviation personnel received pensions for 1,322 retirees, averaging 13,093 lei. The Court of Auditors granted pensions to 700 individuals, averaging 10,685 lei, while auxiliary court staff received pensions for 2,457 persons, averaging 7,320 lei.
